Austin has over 20 years of experience with investment management Technology at leading investment firms. He has worked across front office & back office leading the development of global enterprise solutions. He has consistently helped teams leverage new technologies to automate, reduce costs and provide new business capabilities.
Prior to Cutter Austin spent time at Hulu/Disney as a Senior TPM leading data analytics initiatives across multiple product groups for the convergence of Disney & Hulu streaming analytics platforms.
From 2007-2020 Austin worked at Western Asset Management, an affiliate manager of Legg Mason with $450BN AUM. Austin held a senior technology leadership role responsible for the strategy, roadmaps and implementation of Enterprise Data, Cloud Migration, Dev Ops and Citizen Development. Prior to 2019 he held various lead roles managing teams responsible for the delivery of solutions for portfolio management, research, trading, portfolio compliance, back-office operations including confirmations, settlements, collateral management, TBA processing and regulatory reporting.
Prior to Western Asset he held the role of Director of IT and Plusfunds group, a Fund of Funds managing $3BN AUM where his team overhauled the technology improving operational efficiencies for NAV validation, Risk reporting & client reporting. Austin previously spent 5 years with Deutsche bank in New York & London on various enterprise technology initiatives including the replacement of legacy global equity settlement solutions, cash management systems and stock lending & borrowing.

Gina McCafferty has 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. She served at Cutter from 1999 to 2011 as Principal and Managing Director of CutterResearch, and she was instrumental in growing that business. Gina returned to Cutter in 2017, and established and ran the company’s Wealth Management research division. In 2019, she was appointed to Head of Research, responsible for Asset Management and Wealth Management product development and delivery to over 200 member firms around the globe. Gina was previously at Investit Ltd., where she served for six years as head of the company’s research service. Prior to that, she held senior positions at DST International with product responsibility for their global accounting and performance measurement systems, and at SunGard as Vice President of Client Services for their securities trading products.
Ryan Bateman is Chief Technology Officer at Sands Capital, a leading global investment management firm exclusively focused on growth investing. Since joining Sands Capital in 2011, Mr. Bateman has served as head of technology and oversees all matters relating to technology, cybersecurity and data management.Prior to joining Sands Capital, Mr. Bateman was the director of research, sales, and trading applications at Ipreo. In this position, he led product management for BD Vision, a CRM and workflow application designed for research, sales, and trading organizations. Mr. Bateman also served as director of equity capital markets technology at FBR Capital Markets, as IT manager of the European region for FBR International, and as a network engineer at Friedman Billings Ramsey and the Mills Corporation.Mr. Bateman earned a BA in English studies from Northwestern University and an MBA in international business from the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University.
Tim is a seasoned technologist and leader who is enthusiastic about cloud engineering, leading impactful teams and naturally gravitates towards organizations that leverage modern DevOps practices to accelerate delivery and improve the reliability of solutions.
He has 20+ years of technology experience with various roles in software engineering, architecture, database administration, cloud engineering, DevOps and leadership. He has exposure to numerous industries and various organization sizes ranging from early-stage startups to large, regulated enterprises. He is currently leading public cloud adoption in the Wealth & Asset Management group at Charles Schwab. Tim has also acquired professional certifications in Kafka, AWS, Google Cloud, and Terraform.
Wangzhong Lu is a Managing Director at Barings, a global investment manager sourcing differentiated opportunities and building long-term portfolios across public and private fixed income, real estate, and specialist equity markets.
Wangzhong leads the Global Enterprise Architecture Center of Excellence (EA CoE) at Barings, which drives technology strategy, future-state definition across all architectural domains, and oversight for strategic technology roadmap execution, including cloud transformation and platform modernization.
Before Barings, Mr. Lu led Architecture CoE, at a cloud-native B2B payment product company, AvidXchange, where he was responsible for technology governance, cloud architecture, and engineering standards across the solution, infrastructure, data, and advanced analytics domains. Before AvidXchange, he headed up Global Enterprise Architecture for CommScope, a global telecom powerhouse, for seven years. During his tenure at CommScope, Wangzhong was recognized by Gartner as a thought leader for modern architecture. Wangzhong also served in various leadership roles directing architecture and engineering for Premier Healthcare Alliance, and Amdocs. Wangzhong holds a Master of Science, in Computer Science from Dalhousie University.
