Performance Business Analyst - Investment Management Systems

Cutter Associates LLC is seeking a Business Analysts with strong performance expertise to work on a contract basis for the next 18 months to 24 months to support one of our clients. The Business Analyst’s primary objective is to help our clients implement performance technology solutions in a cost-effective way using a variety of analysis techniques and project delivery practices.

Candidates should be based in the continental U.S. and be available to travel approximately 50-70% of the time.

 

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in buy-side institutional performance measurement
  • Strong knowledge of fixed income markets
  • Experience with Eagle Performance
  • Additional experience investment operations and technology in one or more of the following areas is a plus:
    • investment recordkeeping/accounting
    • data management and instrument engineering

 

Experience / Skills Requirements:

  • Able to define performance requirements and analyze and validate performance results for multiple flavors of institutional performance
  • Solid track record of successfully working on project teams to understand, translate and validate business-oriented requirements, perform complex testing and reconciliations, migrate and deploy middle or back office business applications.
  • Support business process and technical solution designs with data analysis

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead workstream of performance analysts and technical resources acting as a performance Subject Matter Expert
  • Design and document end to end business processes, data requirements and technology solutions that improve business systems and processes.
  • Review and evaluate the Eagle proposed designs, configuration and workflow for suitability to accommodate client specific business requirements
  • Develop and execute test strategies, test plans and success criteria; assist and/or coordinate systems integration and user acceptance testing, supporting client users and ensuring issues are resolved in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Prepare migration plans, support migration and deployment including data conversion
  • Develop training materials and conduct end-user training sessions.
  • Provide post-implementation support to client as they develop internal capabilities

Senior Consultant

Cutter Associates is looking to hire Senior Consultants who have 10-15+ years of direct experience in technology solutions and operations within an asset manager, within the investment division of other financial services companies and or at a wealth manager.

Cutter Associates supports investment management, wealth management and Public Fund & Pension firms through a powerful combination of three interrelated services: Consulting, Benchmarking, and Research. We have ongoing relationships with over 240 asset managers, asset owners and asset servicers in the US, EMEA and Australia. Cutter currently has offices in a suburb of Boston, in London and in Sydney.

A successful candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • 10-15+years of experience in investment management operations and technology in one or more of the following areas:
    • front-office to back-office processes or systems
    • system selection and implementation with systems such as Eagle, SimCorp and Aladdin
    • data management, data warehousing, architecture, and reporting (Markit EDM preferable)
    • trade generation, order management, trade communications, settlements, and portfolio accounting
    • client facing; distribution, marketing, client service, consultant relations, product development and client reporting functions with systems such as Seismic, Vermillion and Couric

Key responsibilities of the position include the following:

  • Successfully complete client projects though meeting client goals, timelines and budget requirements
  • Review client documentation and interview project participants to identify their issues and challenges
  • Define changes to organizational models, modify business processes and identify a target state architecture which will address the current state issues and pain points, meet the client's specific business and technology requirements and be consistent with preferred industry practices and models
  • Create a roadmap for the implementation of the future state
  • Perform vendor selection and searches for specific technology and data systems where appropriate
  • Implement data governance for Client, Account, and Product data domains; design business nomenclature, taxonomy, and business glossaries

We provide consulting services to the Investment Management industry, in the areas of Enterprise Data Management, technology/systems strategy, and operational efficiency. 

Cutter is an established global firm, supporting over 200 investment management firms, both for-profit and public, through a powerful combination of three interrelated services: Consulting, Benchmarking, and Research. Having only been active in the Australian market for two years, Cutter has seen a quick uptake in its services by the market’s largest firms, with further demand being initiated by those clients. To date, the business has been managed out of Cutter’s London office.

As part of this role, the Senior Consultant would execute on consulting engagements in Data Management, warehousing and reporting as well as Technology/Operations Strategy,Target Operating Models in existing accounts.

There is also the potential to take on the broader role of building and leading a team as we expand into Asia, but for now we have consulting opportunities in Australia and need strong candidates who can work with us independently.

The candidate will reside in Australia. We will not relocate for this position.

Senior Business Analyst

Cutter Associates LLC is seeking a Senior Business Analyst for its growing Implementation Services practice.  The Business Analyst’s primary objective is to help our clients implement investment management technology solutions in a cost-effective way using a variety of analysis techniques and project delivery practices.

Candidates can either be based in the continental U.S. and should have should have at least five years of financial services business analysis experience with exposure to any of the following business processes within Investment Operations:

  • investment risk and exposure reporting
  • portfolio management and trading
  • compliance monitoring
  • confirmation/settlement and derivative servicing and/or
  • investment recordkeeping/accounting.

 

Familiarity with investment management vendor applications is desired (E.g. Aladdin, Bloomberg AIM, Charles River IMS, LineData, Eagle Star/Pace, Market EDM/Cadis, BI-SAM, SimCorp Dimension).

Candidates should have experience analyzing business processes, developing business and functional requirements, functional testing and working as part of both agile and non-agile software development teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with project technical and business leads to define business case, document statement of work and set key milestones.
  • Elicit and analyze requirements from project managers, traders, operations, data management and risk professionals using a variety of methods (interviews, process documentation, surveys, and workshops). Propose improvements to workflows, as appropriate.
  • Evaluate data requirements in support of the targeted business processes.
