Matt Boyle
Principal
Matt Boyle is a Principal and Head of Data, Cloud, and AI at Cutter Associates with over twenty years of experience across the insurance, asset management, asset servicing, and investment banking industries. As a technology leader in industry before a recent move to consulting, he has led and advised numerous business optimization programs with a focus on operations refactoring and platform transformation. Many of these engagements have included the full lifecycle of change, from business case ideation, to target operating model design, including technical capability assessment, formal search, and ultimately selection and implementation of net new SaaS-based platforms.
Prior to joining Cutter, Matt was a Director at BNY, leading modernization of the organization’s data stack. He introduced the unique and differentiated capabilities of Snowflake to the organization, negotiated the contractual requirements necessary to enable the deployment of new technology at a G-SIB, and developed an internal distribution framework to onboard over a dozen lines of business to support wide scale low friction adoption of the new platform. Additionally, Matt also advised clients and prospects of the firm on their own digital transformation journeys, helping to align those needs with service capabilities of the organization and guiding the levels of investment required to achieve client outcomes.
Kathy McDermott
Managing Director, Research
Kathy McDermott has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry. Kathy, who joined Cutter Associates in 2011, has authored multiple Cutter Research reports on a wide range of topics. She spent ten years as a consultant for a variety of asset management firms, with a focus on business analysis for front- and middle-office projects. Kathy was previously the senior business analyst, equity trading systems, at Wellington Management, specializing in the firm’s proprietary electronic and basket trading applications. Earlier in her career, Kathy worked for Thomson Financial Services (now Thomson Reuters), supporting FirstCall and PORTIA clients in Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand, and later went on to manage PORTIA implementations. She also worked at LongView (now Linedata) as an account manager and then product manager of electronic trading. Kathy earned her bachelor of arts in mathematics from Hamilton College.
